ABOUT US From the native forests of New Zealand come exclusive natural hardwood timbers, carefully selected and harvested while protecting the delicate balance of the forest ecosystem. The Southern native forests of New Zealand are beautiful, rugged and isolated. This pristine, natural environment provides some of the finest hardwood timbers, destined for exclusive furniture manufacture and superior quality interior joinery and flooring. Lindsay & Dixon's forest resource and timber is sustainably managed and environmentally certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC), so you can be assured of a legal and well managed supply. Lindsay & Dixon is New Zealand's premier supplier of New Zealand native hardwood Beech timber to architects, interior designers and craftsman around the world. Tuatapere based Lindsay & Dixon owns and manages the forestry rights to 11582 hectares of native forest and is permitted to harvest up to 23628 cubic metres of hardwood Beech and other species on an annual basis.. The company was established in 1931 and is today a fully integrated Company specialising in native forest management, harvesting, milling and value added processing. In 2004 after an intensive review and audit process the Company achieved Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certification for its forestry and processing operations - the only native forest to hold such a high and internationally recognised certification in New Zealand. Ownership of the Company changed in the early 1980's from private interests to various publicly listed companies. Following negotiations and settlement of a longterm 100 year, cutting rights contract, the Company was re-privatised in February 2000 by Bernie Lagan and Don MacLachlan, both of whom have had extensive involvement and interests in the New Zealand timber industry over the past 30 years. Based in Southland, New Zealand, a region extensively supported by forestry and farming interests, Lindsay & Dixon employs a very stable and committed workforce of 50 people sourced from the local community of Tuatapere and surrounding districts. The Company is strongly committed to the principles of sustainable management and quality supply and service. Welcome to our world |
